How’s everyone doing? 💆🏻♀️As we enter into the 3rd week of quarantine, I hope everyone has settled into the present reality and has a good routine going for them. I’ve found that both starting and ending my days with a set of actions helps mitigate the illusion of days blurring quickly into weeks.
☀️I’ve definitely come up short many days, but in my ideal day it would start with:
- 10 min meditation on Calm app
- 30 min Insanity workout (max 30 has worked the best for me bc it’s so short and fun and i’m absolutely winded/drenched in sweat by the end of it)
- make a smoothie using frozen fruit with NutriBullet (pro-tip: add goji berries which provide natural caffeination and figs for a slightly more savory taste)
- plan my day using my Notion weekly template (I made a public copy so you can use it as well!) (P.S. i’m obsessed 😍with Notion and if you ever want to geek out and compare set-ups together, i’m your gal)
🌚And end the day with:
- Watching Masterclass (currently: Doris Goodwin’s class on US Presidents) or Hulu/Netflix (anyone else find themselves getting philosophical over Tiger King? 🐯)
- Boho Beautiful’s free yin yoga YouTube videos (i’ve stopped going to yoga classes after discovering this channel)
- Wim Hof Breathing - was skeptical but it honestly does provide an immediate calming effect (s/o to Kat Kim for sharing this with me)
- Gratitude journal using DayOne app (tip: take photos of things you appreciate throughout the day and then upload it to your journal. Your mind begins to subconsciously/automatically seek out things to capture/be grateful for)
The first Wellness Stack interview will be coming out next week! In the meantime, I wanted to share additional wellness links and resources that I’ve come across:
🌊Feel
- HBR’s article “That Discomfort You’re Feeling Is Grief” has really helped me identify and label the pervasive uneasy feeling i’ve been having lately. Once you identify a feeling, it seems that much easier to accept and pivot towards what makes you feel good.
- Mindfulness has been my saving grace throughout the past few weeks. Mindful Org has a list of free resources for those hoping to learn/deepen their practice.
- Moretothat is a refreshing blog that’s very similar to Tim Urban’s WaitBuyWhy blog. I loved his recent post on Shocks, Setbacks, and the Slowdown of Time
- “The majority of progress is determined by the minority of choices you make. Setbacks, such as the one we’re all in the midst of, is where we lay down the foundation for how things will move once the dust settles. It’s not the years of continual progress that builds our view of the world, but our response to rapid pushbacks that does.”
